Track Days

TSCC Track Days are in danger of becoming history.

It’s all down to cost. We started running Track Days because of the benefits – enabling drivers to
improve their skills or to fettle their cars for competitive events; to encourage
more people to take part in competitive activities; for Dads to teach their
youngsters and, of course, for a bit of fun, driving round a real race track
under safe and protected conditions.

But the cost of this has risen. For those who have not attended Annual
General Meetings, the expenses include

Kirkiston hire (£1234), the Recoveryvehicle (£147), Radios (£70), Insurance (£200)

and the St John Ambulance (£176).

Nobody gets paid for running the events, but we do lavish a free
lunch to officials – marshals and admin staff – to the extent of around £4 a
head, usually covered by charging passengers a nominal sum.

That comes to £1827, so far this year we have clocked up a loss in excess of £1000.
