Track Days
TSCC Track Days are in danger of becoming history.
Its all down to cost. We
started running Track Days because of the benefits enabling drivers to
improve their skills or to fettle their cars for competitive events; to
encourage
more people to take part in competitive activities; for Dads to teach their
youngsters and, of course, for a bit of fun, driving round a real race track
under safe and protected conditions.
But the cost of this has risen. For those who have not attended Annual
General Meetings, the expenses include
Kirkiston hire (£1234), the Recoveryvehicle (£147), Radios (£70), Insurance (£200)
and the St John Ambulance (£176).
Nobody gets paid for running
the events, but we do lavish a free
lunch to officials marshals and admin staff to the extent of around £4 a
head, usually covered by charging passengers a nominal sum.
That comes to £1827, so far this year we have clocked up a loss in excess of £1000.
